Trauma

Trauma-Informed Care

Receiving trauma-informed care is so important to properly process and heal from your past. Trauma not only has an impact on emotional wellbeing, but your physical wellbeing, too. Trauma lives in the body. If you're experiencing headaches, sleep issues, stomach aches, or more, there's a good chance your nervous system is still holding onto the past.

For some, trauma-informed talk therapies such as TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) or Narrative Therapy are enough to pinpoint triggers, reduce anxiety, and overcome trauma-related challenges. For others, talk therapy just isn't enough. If that's the case with you and you're ready to try something different, EMDR might be the next best thing.

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing) is a very effective and evidenced-based practice used to treat trauma. It uses bilateral stimulation, typically through eye movements or tapping, in order to reprocess negative memories so you don't have to live everyday with all the common side effects of trauma.

Although EMDR is most often used and effective in treating trauma, it also can be helpful for phobias, OCD, anxiety, and depression, depending on your needs and circumstances. Reach out today to see how EMDR can help you!
